What is the purpose of your team?

Bruce, Larry, Toby, Jose, Marcus, Kelby

We provide comprehensive coverage for both pumpdown and wireline operations. This involves a broad range of components and systems, including sensors, IT networks, electrical infrastructure, operating systems, measurement devices and monitoring systems. Plus all downhole tools used in daily operations. In addition to routine and preventative maintenance, we also play a critical role in supporting field operations and training our people.

What’s a typical day like for the team?

Bruce, Larry, Toby, Jose, Marcus, Kelby

No two are the same! On any given day, we may go from performing maintenance on pumpdown equipment in the yard to troubleshooting a wireline logging unit in the field to training new team members on specialized downhole technology. The one thing all days have in common is they are fast-paced, intense, and continuously in service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Silvertip

Can you discuss what you provide on a more specific basis?

Bruce, Larry, Toby, Jose, Marcus, Kelby

These challenges can run the gamut, whether software-related, mechanical, or electrical. It can be anything from a single misplaced wire that can prevent a pump from starting to a small decimal error in software configuration that results in incorrect footage readings on a wireline truck. Resolving issues, whether by providing technical support over the phone or traveling to the field to perform hands-on diagnostics, gives us a strong sense of purpose and contribution.

It sounds like there is both a proactive and reactive element to your services.

Bruce, Larry, Toby, Jose, Marcus, Kelby

It’s a heavy dose of preventive maintenance that’s consistently applied along with real-time troubleshooting and continuous support for the crews. The preventative part serves as the critical foundation to Silvertip’s success. Every wireline truck and pump in the entire Silvertip fleet receives detailed, high-quality preventative maintenance to keep the equipment operating safely and efficiently. This helps prevent costly failures and downtime. By tracking performance data and analyzing past issues, we can identify lessons learned and apply them to avoid repeat problems.

These activities are essential because they directly support Silvertip’s ability to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient services to our customers. Pumpdown and wireline operations rely on complex systems operating under demanding conditions. Any failure, whether electrical, mechanical, or software-related, can result in costly downtime, increased safety risks or altogether missed opportunities.

By delivering reliable technical expertise and responsive support, we help customers choose our services over those of our competitors. We enjoy the challenge of resolving complex issues in intense environments, applying knowledge and skills that we’ve all developed over time. There is a strong sense of satisfaction in identifying effective solutions to the technical problems we encounter on a daily basis, especially when those solutions directly support safe and efficient operations. The work is highly rewarding – there have been situations where Silvertip’s services would not have been possible without our technical support. Silvertip

What about training and professional development? How does that play into things?

Bruce, Larry, Toby, Jose, Marcus, Kelby

We have ongoing training across the entire Silvertip fleet, and it’s one of the most rewarding aspects of this position. To perform at a high level, we have to have a deep understanding of every aspect of Silvertip’s equipment. Continuous improvement and staying current with advancing technology are core goals for our team. And we have team members who used to work in the field as operators, who made the transition to a tech support role. That gives us a valuable platform to up our game – we’ve been in their shoes and that helps everyone.
